Seth Levine

A longtime venture capitalist, Seth Levine works with venture funds and companies around the globe. His day job is as a partner at Foundry, a venture capital firm based in Boulder, CO, which he cofounded in 2006. Today it has nearly $4 billion in assets under management. He is also the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of GoodBread, a small business lending platform. Easily distracted and a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship, Seth also spends time as an advisor to venture funds and companies around the world.

The intersection of community and business has always been a driving force for Seth. He co-founded Pledge 1%, a global network of companies that have pledged equity, time, and product back to their local communities that, since inception, has resulted in nearly $3 billion in philanthropy. He was a instrumental in the growth of StartupColorado, an organization that promotes entrepreneurship in areas of Colorado outside of the front range and serves on the Investment Committee of Gary Community Ventures, which partners with the local community to reshape the arc of opportunity for Colorado children and families.

Seth is a Trustee of Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, where he helped found their entrepreneurship program as well as a popular student hackathon (the “Macathon”). He also spends time as an advisor to entrepreneurs and policymakers—in the U.S. as well as globally, especially in markets in the Middle East and Africa—to help promote entrepreneurship and economic development.

A passionate cyclist, above-average skier, and general fan of all things outdoors, Seth and his wife live in Colorado with their three children. He is the co-author of The New Builders: Face to Face with the True Future of Business. His new book, Capital Evolution, about the future of capitalism, will be released in the winter of 2025.

Elizabeth MacBride

Elizabeth MacBride is a journalist, author, and entrepreneur whose reporting and commentary on finance, innovation, and global economic change have reached millions of readers worldwide. She is a senior knowledge and advocacy consultant with We-Fi and has also worked with World Bank teams on gender issues in countries across West Africa.

She is the co-author of three books, including The New Builders (Wiley, 2021), which reshaped how policymakers understand entrepreneurship in America and informed $250B in U.S. pandemic-era aid; The Little Book of Robo Investing (Wiley, 2024), which draws on her experience at Wealthfront to explain how technology is transforming personal finance; and Capital Evolution (BenBella, forthcoming Dec. 2025), which looks at the changing American economy through interviews with business leaders including the CEOs of JPMorgan, Verizon and BlackRock.

Her work has long advocated for people who are underrepresented in the global economy because of structural barriers and social norms.

As a reporter and editor, Elizabeth has broken stories at the intersection of finance, technology, and policy for outlets including The New York Times, Quartz, Forbes, MIT Tech Review, the Atlantic, and the BBC. She has reported from everywhere, from the Arkansas Delta and the panhandle of Idaho to Silicon Valley and Wall Street, as well as from conflict and post-conflict zones, including Kenya, Cambodia, the West Bank, and Gaza. Most recently, she has focused on narrative change and information disorder, examining how these forces shape markets, democracy, and the future of work. A graduate of Johns Hopkins SAIS, she is a single mom of two children and lives in Alexandria, Virgina.
